This Model T mail truck belonged to Daniel's great grandfather, Fred. Fred purchased the vehicle new in 1923; the chassis from a Ford Dealer in Hudson and the body from Herrington Manufacturing in Peoria, IL. Fred assembled the vehicle and used it to deliver mail from 1923 to 1935. In 1935, the truck was retired and stored in Fred's barn. Over the next fifty years it would only be driven twice. One occasion was when Daniel's father, Bob, convinced Fred to take it out for one last drive before Fred passed away and the second was when Daniel and his father drove it in a local parade in the early 70's.
Daniel was in high school in the 1980’s when he, his father, and his friend and neighbor, Dave, restored the Model T. Working on the vehicle in their spare time, they completed a frame off restoration of the Model T over the next couple years. Daniel's father drove the Model T once in a while from the 1980’s until he gave the vehicle to Daniel in 2005. Since that time, Daniel has been taking the Model T to car shows and driving it in the local 4th of July parade every couple of years. Daniel plans on passing the Model T down to his son, Ian, and hopes it will stay in the family for generations to come.
