Back in July 1965, Wayne traded his prized 1932 Ford pickup for a 1955 Chevy 210 so that he could buy an engagement ring for Doris. He and Doris had many adventures in the ’55, even taking it off-road.
Wayne held onto the car for years, and began restoring it in the early ’90s. Over the years, Doris would ask Wayne if he ever regretted giving up his 32 Ford for the Chevy, but he always reminded her that he was happy with his decision. Before Wayne could finish the restoration, he passed away in 1995 at age 48.
Doris and her grandsons decided to let the legacy live on and finally restore the old 1955 Chevy. She looks forward to the day she can go for a ride again.
I’ve worked at Hagerty for four years, and my dream car is a 2014 Audi R8. In addition, my aunt and uncle have a VW Beetle in the bottom of their barn that I hope to someday restore. I love talking to our clients; their passion for their vehicles is so thrilling and it makes my job fun. Some of my favorite things include shopping, cooking and scrapbooking.
