1989 Conrad Motor Carriage Jerry from Maryland

Jerry has had this 1898 Conrad for about four years. An Amish farmer had it in New York and when he came across it he had to have it. Jerry has always looked for a steam engine car but had not been able to find one. This vehicle has an all wood original body with no rot, and could be the earliest known fire chief’s car as it had the red circle with the 1 on the back. This Conrad is also the only one of its kind in the United States, and was made in Buffalo, NY. There is one other in Denmark and Norway but they are a different body style. Jerry has got all the original parts and is currently restoring it to museum quality. He's hoping that it will be finished in about one year. He can’t wait to have this piece of history completed as there is nothing like it that is known.
