Michael and Jackie took in their nephew Caleb at age 12, following a difficult childhood, and raised him as their own. During Caleb’s high school years he worked on this 1964 pickup with Michael, and after his graduation he followed his dream to join the Marines. In 2004 Caleb lost his life in Iraq while fighting for his country. At that time the family put the truck away, and it was only recently that they found the courage to bring the truck out and restore it as Caleb would have wanted. They have replaced the engine that Caleb dreaded with a 460 Ford with dual carbs and are having it painted Marine red with a custom memorial on the tailgate honoring Caleb. It will be taken to parades and other events in his memory.
I was born and raised in Traverse City. I have worked at Hagerty since January, and I’m extremely grateful to have found such a great company to work for in the hometown that I love so much.
