Richard & Betsy's story is one of love, life struggles, and appreciation. Richard's had three bouts of cancer within a span of 4 years. His wife, Betsy, has been at his side, helping him through it all and providing him with loving care.
Betsy owned a Mustang in the 10 years after she graduated from high school. To thank her for her dedication to him and his quality of life, Richard found the 1968 Mustang and had it restored and painted to match Betsy's first Mustang. It still needs some work, so he's considered nominating the vehicle to one of the restoration shows on TV as a surprise for her.
Richard said that there's nothing he wouldn't do for Betsy, the love of his life. He knows she still worries about his health, and even though the cancer has changed their lives dramatically, it's been for the better because they've learned to make the most of every single day.
I am a Traverse City native, and after living in Chicago eight years, Mother Nature called me home. I joined the Hagerty team in September 2013 and also work at OM Café’ on the weekends. When I am NOT working, I spend a lot of time with my mutt Charlie and perform with Le Fleur Couture dance troupe, as well as perform in local theater. My dream classic would be a vintage pickup; I’ve wanted one since I was about 9 years old.
